Mangapurua Valley 4 Wheel Drive Day Trip

The Friends of the Whanganui River are conducting a 4 wheel drive trip in to the Mangapurua Valley, the site of the unsuccessful First World War farming settlement scheme.

This will take place on Sunday the 9th February 2025 with accommodation being arranged at the Snowy Waters Lodge in Raetihi the night before.

A number of side by side quad vehicles are being arranged to take a maximum of 20 people and the trip will start from Raetihi at 7am where a bus will transport those going to the start of the Mangapurua Track on Ruatiti Road.

The trip will go in as far as where Bartrum’s farm was, which is about 8 Km’s upstream from the Bridge to Nowhere, as the suspension bridge there cannot take quad vehicles.
