Description
Two people, Alan Donald and Peter Wilson have never missed a canoe trip down the Whanganui river in fifty years. There’s, logistics; teams of people who accompany them. Some a very few, win Nobel prizes for their efforts. This effort of the River Rats is not so grandiose, but ensures that over 50 years, hundreds of people have got to experience this wonderful journey for themselves.
In the thirty-two years its been easy to confuse them with Friends of the Whanganui River, as the same people are involved with both groups and are seen by Richard Steele as complimentary to each other. He says, “Travel well, we look forward to catching up as you pass Retaruke and Blue Duck Station.”
